More blogging & learning

So, I think I'm beginning to learn a thing or 2 about blogging.  First - it's really difficult to post a picture using that android touchpad.   So, I guess I might be blogging from the laptop John's letting me use.  Thank's ok.  I can deal with it.

So, now that I have learned a few things, here's a few pictures from around our farmstead.

This is THE "big rock" the house was built around.  That's why it's called Big Rock Farm.  The house was built in 1978, based on a plan published in Mother Earth News.  We're not sure how many other owners there have been.  At least 4.  The previous owner sold when her husband died.  They'd bought it at auction from the State after it had been seized in a drug raid.  The raid was in 1999 or 2000.  Big Rock Farm sure needed some TLC when we got it.  But, we love it & we're really glad Universe led us to this wonderful place.

Here's some of the "outbuild" fowl....

We've raised our birds from eggs, and they're our pets.  We try to take good care of them & keep them happy.

We've put in landscaping.  We've put in a veggie garden.  We've worked on the workshop building to make it weather tight (and clean up all the garbage the druggies left everywhere!).  We've totally rehabilitated the house.  We're proud of the work we've done and we've taken a place that was neglected and turned it into our home.  And it's been work.

Here's a picture of the veggie garden.

That's my man, out standing in his field!

And here's the house and some of the flower beds....

So as you can see, we really have been working.

John and I are slowing down, so it's a good thing we got all the "bones" done while we could still work hard.  Now, Joshua will have to do the digging and pounding while we direct!  No seriously, Josh is a great guy and we're so glad he's come to help us.  We really appreciate him.

But, that's what country living is all about.  Working hard, helping each other.  Appreciating what we have & working together to make it better.
